Kids boxing in
East Columbus

Kids boxing classes at Uphill Boxing run Monday through Friday from 5 to 9 PM at 571 Holtzman Ave. Your child learns stance, guard, footwork and conditioning — and does their homework before they leave.

What the evening block looks like

Kids warm up, work the rope and the bags, then move into fundamentals — how to stand, how to hold a guard, how to move without falling over their own feet. Nobody gets thrown in over their head. Sparring is earned over months, with headgear, and only when Jalen says a kid is ready.

Homework help is built into the block. If a kid shows up with a worksheet, it gets done at the table before they touch a glove. That rule has never moved.

First-timers

No experience and no gear needed. There are gloves and wraps to borrow. Send your child in athletic clothes, gym shoes, and with a water bottle.

Who it's for

School-age kids from across Columbus — the Near East Side, King-Lincoln, Bexley and Whitehall. Some come because they want to fight. Most come because they need somewhere to be at 5 PM with an adult who knows their name.
